Auction 27
Antique Arms & Militaria
Via San Lorenzo, 5/17 - Genoa 27 MAY 2012 - 10:00 AM
- description
An important auction is to be held on our premises in Genoa on 27th May 2012.
An exceptional group of antique arms, all of an extremely high level, are to be put up for sale, amongst which stand out a pair of gold-mounted pistols, constructed by the gunsmith Vignat for the eastern market; various pairs of Brescian pistols of superb quality, French and Italian Risorgimento sabres, a gold-mounted scimitar heightened with pearls made in the Arabian Peninsula and various cased duelling pistols from Prague, Italy and England. Amongst the long guns to be sold, is one of notable quality from 1700 made in Malta with Neapolitan skill and that belonged to the Grand Master of the Order of De Rohan. Katanas, headgear and Japanese weapons are also well represented and from the Haute Époque we are looking forward to keen interest in a group of weapons up for sale, including a Medicean falchion, armour, helmets, crossbows, swords and daggers. The militaria section highlights Italian, Papal, Austrian and French helmets which are all of excellent manufacture; indeed, a valuable group of daggers from the Fascist period will cite a lot of interest from enthusiasts of that period, as will a noteworthy 19th century Italian campaign cannon that belonged to a noble Lombard family.
